I have 10 gallon set up with aqua-soil substrate, about 3" thick of soil. I checked Ph =5.4. Is it safe for shirmp to live in there? Please help....
I'm using Milwaukee SMS122 PH meter. What test kit did you use to measure your ph? The only ones I know of only measure to a 6.0 .
As far as keeping inverts in a ph that low..its not really advisable without buffering your water to a higher ph because of the minerals and things the inverts need to grow there shells..and stay healthy.
the substrate should not be making the pH fall THAT much.
true...it may be a good idea for the OP to take some of the substrate out and replace it with an inert one.Per there web site, it is designed to do exactly that. Couple that with the large amount in a small tank...
