Okay guys...here's one for you! I was at walmart just yesterday and saw what was called a "butterfly pleco" They cost about $5 and to me looked like a cross between a stingray and a pleco...they weren't that big, most only being around an inch or so. They had teeny tiny black dots all over them.
I can't find any info on these guys, but was wondering if any of you might know a few things about them or where I could find info on them etc.
I would love to have one if I could, they are just really neat looking! :p:
Thanks a bunch!
Candice

I saw some images and they look really cool!

I would want one, but I only have a ten gallon, much too small for one of those.

I also have seen a butterfly pleco at the store and wondered about it, I looked up the hillstream loach and that did not look at all like the thing that I think your talking about it at least didnt look like the thing that I saw labeled as a butterfly pleco. maybe there are multiple species that go by this name?

Dekeyseria brachyura and Dekeyseria sp. (L052) go by the names of Butterfly pleco. Most of the time however what you see in LFS as butterflys are the HillStream loaches, if it looks like a flounder, its the hill stream.

im not sure what loach thing your talking about but there are actual plecos that are called butterfly plecos or chameleon plecos. because they change color depending on what color the substrate is. the darker the substrate the darker they are and vise-a-versa i was going to get one but i could only find the chinese butterfly plecos and they dont change color there just black with white spots.
