Wierd Walmart fish!?! "Butterfly Pleco"

Thanks guys! You hit the nail on the head. It was in fact a Hillstream Loach. I agree they do need to stop calling it a pleco of some sort...doesnt look anything like a pleco nor is one LoL.
It goes by all these other other wierd and wonderful names like the "borneo sucker loach" "Chinese sucker loach" or something to that effect :D
Thanks again guys for all your help!!!

Pretty well all 'plecos' can change color to some extent, including ancistrus species. Whoever is giving them that name likely doesn't know species name and is trying this as a marketing gig.

All plecos come from South America, if there is something you see that originates in Asia, its not a pleco.

Actually, there is a native pleco here in Houston that can be found in some of the byous. It looks like a cross between a common pleco and a snow king. I did not know they existed until about a year ago. Very cool!

Glad you asked candycat. I also saw one at Walmart this past weekend and wondered what it was. It is a really cool looking fish.
