I caught a fish yesterday and wanted to keep it. I think it was a green sunfish. He was really pretty and probably about 3 inches. I was holding him in my hands checking him out really well and noticed he had some sort of worm on him. I tried to take a picture but it didn't come out.

The worm was maybe a 1/2 inch long, kind of white. It was on the side of the fish's body and moved similarly to an inch worm. Any idea what this is and how to treat it?

I ended up not taking the fish home because it was spur of the moment and I don't currently have anything to use as a quarantine tank. But I think it would be neat to set up a wild caught tank, so I thought I would get some info on parasites and quarantine before I try to catch anything again...
