ok my last question for now is, incase my female is a regular betta and my male is a crown, how much percent of my frys will most become a crowntail?

thanks again koi1010 for all replies :thm:

Guessing: 50/50

alright alright! :D i'll get me a crowntail female and male today at my local petshop to gurantee a better breed, dosent matter what color right? 2 more hours and they will open here in hawaii, the good part is that i dont need any aquarium heater cause its tropical here.

again, thanks folks for replies :thm:

I know this isn't much help to you but it might be to me. I had a pair of bettas before with the male being in a betta tank for about 6 months and then into a 10g and the female added second but they never bred. do you think they would have bred if I would have temporarily seperated them or would the age difference be why they did'nt breed?

You dont want a pet store Betta... You have no way to ensure lineage and whatever you buy very likely has some strong veil tail genes... You put the same ammount of work into a spawn of "genetic mutts" as you do quality fish..No offense to the veil lovers, but it is really not worth the effort. Also, you will get a young, healthy fish from a breeder... Alot of the LFS Bettas are over the hill and not in the best health to begin with at the LFS

ok i just bought a delta blue and a crowntail blue males from a guy that breeds them in hawaii, now i will pair the delta blue male with the common red female, he told me that to get a pure delta in the future is to use one of the female frys from that stock when they mature, cause it will carry the delta gene.
