I'm tending toward a peaceful community tank with my setup, so want to keep my rosies real happy with lots of schooling pals.. but obviously if there's somebody a little more peaceful that they'll school with, that would be a better option. I think I read somewhere that cherries are more peaceful of the barbs.

Cherry barbs are the most peaceful, yes. However, they don't school in a tight group. You need enough room for the males to stake out a small territory for himself. But of course, they do like to be around other fish. They're really great fish! =)

I'm not sure about the aggression of roseys to them. Does anyone else know?

Both rosy barbs and cherry barbs are both a peaceful fish, especially compared to their terrorizing cousin the tiger barb. Neither of these fish will school very well, unless there is a constant threat nearby.

geez

I don't know why the bad rap with tiger barbs, I would hardly describe them as terrorizing. I kept mine in a cluster of 3-5, with mollies, and we all did great. Red eye tetras also did nice with the group.

But yeah, I have room for another school of fish. 40 gal, currently stocked at 6 rosy barbs. Room for cherries I think, but maybe I'll start with a small school, of 3, just to encourage them to socialize with their neighbors.
