I was wondering will using Jungle medicated anti bacteria fish food affect my biofilter..I do not have a hospital tank and I want to save my bio filter..From your experience, does feeding the food affect the bio filter..

Also, maybe I should try another option, how about Maracyn, the antiboitic? The company claims that the bio filter will not be affected if Maracyn is added to the tank..

I need to save my biofilter.

Research the product on the web. See what other people have said about its effect on the biofilter.

Read the ingredients on the label and research each one on the web. That's what I do. Nothing goes in my tank unless I know what each ingredient does and why.

If it contains an antibiotic and it's applied directly to the water and not just food, it will kill bacteria. It's not going to care whether or not it's good bacteria or bad bacteria.

As for the Jungle foods, IMO and IME 98% of fish will not eat it. Goldfish will, but they will eat anything.

I agree. None of my fish except the goldfish ever ate the medicated foods.

A good medicated food seems to be the GelTek. I just put the food in a bowl and then add the GelTek on top and let it soak in. This causes the food to sink faster but as long as your fish eat off the bottom they'll be ok.
