Will these live in my aquarium

They need high flow to get food to them, so I wouldn't suggest them unless you have a river tank.

They're also filter feeders, so unless you have a green water problem, you're going to have to do some serious algae culturing.

Corbicula fluminea is a horrible invasive exotic species that's crowding out native mussels in the US. :mad2: I hate 'em.

But yes, they can live in an aquarium.

They "CAN" live in an aquarium but I would not recomend them. They will quickly filter the food out of the water and die slowly. Unless you are adding a micro food to the water daily, not a good invertabrate for the home!

i had the same thing with my mussels... some would live for months or even years and then just die. they foul up the water pretty quickly. they need particles in the water and prefer cooler temperatures. this is just my experience with native mussels though. when i kept them in my pond outside they did well. i used them as gravel (i had maybe 80 in a kiddy pool), so im assuming they need a steady algae supply and cooler water to flourish.
