Will this work?

I'm about to start a new 10 gal. freshwater tank, I'm thinking about putting somekind of danio (white cloud, zebra, or blue) and then a couple corys (Delphax, julii, or brochis green) would this work and how many of each should I have in there? And are these fish very hardy?

I encourage you to get the smallest corys available. Such as pygmy corys or dwarf corys. But if you are serious about getting one of the species you mentioned, then julii's would probably be the best. Do you know how big Julii's get?

First you need to cycle your tank Read This First

Cory's do best in of at least groups of 3 so id say go with 3 dwarf corys.
Danios you could probably throw another 3 in there since they are mid tank fish.

Corys like all scaleless fish can be a little sensative to there conditions.
Danios are usually really sturdy and i whould recomend they go in the tank first.

IMO, you should get more than 3 danios(you would probably have room for 4). Zebras are easy to find, so you might want to go with those.

I also recommend fishless cycling, I cycled the old-fashioned way and I lost alot of fish. I also use Prime by seachem for dechlorinating in case of an ammonia spike.

I have a 10 gallon too, I am stocking it with 2 Otos, 1 male betta, and 6 or so neons.

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll go with 4 danios (of whatever i can find, probably zebras) and 3 dwarf corys, would it be a good idea to put live plants with them as well? I'm going to run the fishless cycle for a few days and use the tests to assist with that, is there anything else I should be aware of after I have established the cycle and before I put in the fish?

This is sorta an after thought, but is there any other fish, or type of danio, that is as hardy as the zebra or white cloud danios but would add more color to the tank, maybe a tetra, but I heard they were a little sensitive and would hard to maintain in a new tank and could be agressive, any suggestions, if not I'll be fine with the danios.

Well I think you could add a platy of anykind, they are very hardy, and very colorful. Plus they'll get along with the fish you have. I don't recommend you get more than 1 because they'll breed like crazy.

And yes if you are up for it you can get a few plants. IMO, you should get a java fern for your first plant. They are popular, hardy, and a good addition to your tank. the only thing that'll kill them that I know is very high temps and poison, of course
