I got this going at another forum so I thought I will post it here too.
This is just experimentation, Sulawesi and Neos will stay, the rest will be moved to other tanks.The 3 tanks on top have Caridina shrimp, the 3 ones below for Neos and the rest is 1 x Paracaridina, Cardinals, Royal Blue tigers and Malawa.The tank all the way to the left at the bottom is the sump, the water pumped up to the 3 tanks, each tank drips on the one below, each tank has sponge at the overflow to prevent shrimplets from escaping and act as biological/mechanical filter

Have you found the optimum water conditions that yields best results? I'm having a hard time finding the right condition to make my CRSs reproduce more often.

Surprisingly, the CRS in this set up are breeding and offsprings growing fast, that is PH8 , Temp 80F and 340 TDS, the only shrimp didn't do well is orange Neos, but Sulawesi, Royal Blue tigers, Chocolates, Red cherry, Paracaridina and Malawa are all breeding and berried again.

Interesting, thanks for the info! The breeder who I bought my CRS from said they like cool and very low TDS conditions. I had my tank at 76 degrees, 60 TDS and PH about 7.8 for months but didn't see any babies. I have 20 in that tank. I now have 9 in a different tank with temp at 76, ph 7.8 and TDS 240. I see 2 are berries but haven't seen any little ones. I might try warmer water and see if that helps.

60 TDS is too low, the breeder is right about cooler temp and low TDS, I think the ideal water parameters are 72F, KH 1, GH4 and 150 TDS.
My set up is just for experiment purpose, don't take it as a guideline.

Yeah, I was trying to maintain a very soft environment for my Tucan tetras but without a RO unit at home, it was way too much of a hassle. I'm slowly bring up the TDS in that tank.

PH should be lower but I've never been able to lower it. Can't do much about lowering the temp unless I move the tank to the basement. Maybe I'll setup a small one there to experiment just like you.

Those are large kritterkeepers that you can find at LFS for reptiles.

hmm cool are these permanent homes or temporary?i thought critter keepers would leach toxins in the water.

I am going to keep them there for now or unless I find another project to do.
What kind of toxins they will leach? are you sure about that? I am still working on the filtration options but I do have activated carbon in the sump.
