i have a 20 gallon high with two 24" striplights... one 18" bulb Power-Glo and one 18" Marine-Glo. i have about 60 lbs live rock and a whisper 30 power filter. tank has just finished its cycle about two weeks ago. so far i have one gold molly (will soon be moving out), one purple firefish, one haitian (sp?) anemone, one anemone crab and a banded coral shrimp. i added them slowly, testing daily for ammonia, nitrite, salinity, etc. im gonna leave it at that for a couple more weeks. if all goes well i wanna add some more shrimp, crabs, snails, mushrooms, more anemones, etc. probably no more fish. how many crabs, shrimps, anemones, snails, etc can i have in this tank? any input is greatly appreciated.

The CB shrimp is likely going to prevent you from adding additional shrimp, particularly in a smaller tank like this. They are quite territorial and will oftentimes kill smaller, weaker shrimp (eg, cleaners, peppermint, etc).

I wouldn't have any anemones in this tank. You don't seem to have the intensity of light needed to keep them alive. Haitian (Condylactis spp) anemones are about as forgiving as anemones come, but you should still be feeding it every other day to compensate for lower light levels. I couldn't recommend for you to get any other anemones due to lighting and space concerns. (Condys take up a lot of space, and you don't have much ground area in a 20T).

I wouldn't add another anemone crab, but you could safely add a mix of various hermit and passive crab species. Sally lightfoots and mithrax crabs would be good options. Be aware that all crabs are efficient scavengers, but other organisms (snails in particular) tend to get picked off if crabs aren't finding enough food left behind.

A common mistake with snails is to over-buy - if you get too many, they will starve. Five or six turbo/astrea snails will keep the glass clear, and a handful of cerith or nassarius snails will work the substrate.

Mushrooms...go crazy. You've got enough light for them, and they are great beginner's corals.

thanx for the info... im really glad to hear i can get mithrax crabs... i REALLY want them. would bumblebee snails be ok in the tank?
