I don't know if anyone has been following my posts, but to make a long story short, I have 3 2L DIY co2 bottles on the go for my 125G tank cuz I can't afford the pressurized system. I was talking with my father-in-law and he used to use a co2 set up for his wine making. He gave the system to a friend who I just got off the phone with.......he thinks he still has it stored away! He said I can have the 5lb. tank and all the equipment he can find with it! FREE pressurized co2!!!! woo hoo!! just thought I would share my excitedness. :thm: :dive2:

Chances are the cylinder will need to be hydro tested. They are required to be tested every 5 years.

Having a cylinder and regulator is part of what you need. You will still need at a minimum a needle valve, check valve, tubing and diffusion method. For a 125 gallon tank it's much better to have two CO2 injection points. This means a manifold of some kind, two needle valves, two check valves and two diffusion methods.

But you did save some cash by getting the cylinder and regulator for free.

I will find out tomorrow exactly what "equipment" he has.
I will then have to find out what to get from there.

thx.

pictures!

Here is what I got.....
what do you think?
BTW, the tank is 5lbs.

yeh, starting to get excited. I've got one hagen ladder in one corner and a ceramic diffuser in the other corner with a powerhead. Should I still use the Hagen ladder with the yeast setup in one corner and go with pressurized in the other corner or go totally pressurized and disperse the co2 in both corners?

On a 125 I like to have two injection points. There is no reason to mess with DIY once you have pressurized. You can get a manifold and two needle valves and split the pressurized to run both diffusion methods.

I'm betting your cylinder needs to be hydro tested. So start calling around to find a place to do that.

ok thanks guys. I will be hunting around for a place that can test the bottle and fill it up.
