Wood Mystery

I have a piece of wood (I don't know what kind) that has some kind of clear goo growing on it. I have noticed that the snails and guppies like to eat it. Once they eat it, it doesn't grow back. Once it started appearing, I noticed that it turned the water very murky. Should I be concerned?

Nope. I've noticed it frequently grows on newly added wood, gets eaten, and never comes back.

It's a type of fungus. Harmless, if unattractive. No reason to worry, you can manually remove it if you like but it usually dies off after a while.

I agree with both previous posts. No sweat, it'll go away...& maybe has already...late to post.
