So I've been dealing with renting from my husband's parents for the last 3 years. They are really nice, but it's a pain to do business with family. Plus, the trailer is a POS, and they can't quite realize that. They still are thinking of it when they first saw it about 5-6 years ago. Yeah, it was in good shape because the guy they got it from used it as a cabin, so the carpet and everything was in pretty good shape. Not too much wear and tear. But we've been living in it constantly for a good 3 years, and they used it for 1 or 2 years while they were building their current house. So, it's had some hard use lately. Everytime we fix one thing, 4 others are found doing that. Now the roof is leaking in practically every room (water spots on ceilings), and in the bedroom, there is a huge water spot with lots of mold. I can't get rid of it.
So when they decided they couldn't afford their big new house and would have to move into the trailer once they sell the house, we decided to start looking for a new place. And we found the perfect one! It's a cute little cabin on the lake. It's less than half the rent that we currently pay, too! The only drawback is that there are no laundry hook-ups, so we would have to go to the laundromat. But, they are letting us keep our dog and my fishtanks and had absolutely no problems with that! I can't wait to get started. Officially, the lease starts Dec 1, but we can start moving in next week. I am absolutely freakin' excited. Finally, no flares of asthma and allergies just from walking in my front door!
