I was under my 125g tank and noticed that I have worms in the tank!!! Not really sure where they came from, but, I need to know if they are harmful in any way, or are they okay. I saw three speerate ones, there could be more. If I need to get rid of them, how do I do it? I have 8 different fish, a bunch of snails, and hermit crabs. Can the worms stay too??

They look almost like earthworms, only smaller in diameter. I only saw one really good. it was about 2.5 - 3 inches long, light brown in color, and very small in diameter. That's about all I can tell you. Saw lots of "tracks" from the bottom of the tank,so not really sure how many are there.

Sounds like you're developing a good bristleworm population. Probably came in on live rock or sand. Most are harmless scavengers. If the population grows too big (like they start to spill onto the carpet), it generally means there's too much food going into the tank.

I agree with Mogurnda, sounds like bristleworms. They will do a good job churning up your substrate for you.

Are they fast moving under light and smooth? Bristleworms will not be smooth, they have little stiff hairs running down them. Smooth worms are more likely to be peanut worms--also a detrivore, no threat.

The only way that I saw them, was with a flashlight under the tank. The seemed to be smooth, and did not move a whole lot. I cleaned the tank today and tried to scoop one up in the "vacuum" but never saw one. So I don't know what it is for sure.
