would my fish die if i had a 10 gallon tank and i have
2 silver dollars (2 inches)
4 glowlight tetra (1.3 inches)
1 guppy (1.3 inches)
3 neon tetra (1.3 inches)
2 honey gourami's (2 inches)
1 swordtail (3.5 inches)
1 pleco (1 inch)
1 CAE (2 inches)
im planning to move on to a 29-46 gallon soon
oh and is it still okay to just add 1 more iridescent shark (3inches)?

yes your fish would die. your tank right now is way overstocked. i think even with a 50 gal tank you would be over stocked. iridescent sharks can get over a foot in length. i am not sure how big they get but they need large tanks. plus they are a schooling fish meaning you should have 6 or more of them.

some fish like the silver dollars, pelco, CAE would grow too large for even a 50G, and your fish varies too much. the tetras would prefer to be in a community of their own. i suggest you rethink your entire stock.

You really have all those fish in a 10 gallon tank? Definitely listen to what the others have posted. It is overstocked and the fish will/can easily die of disease, stress, stunting, and poor water quality in those conditions.

that is super overstocked for a 10 gal, but may be accepatable for a 55, especially since most of the fish wont get too big, silver dollars can live happily in a 55. infact i think all of them would do great in a 55.

you really have all of them in a 10 gal though?

No they will not do great in a 55g.....

2 silver dollars - grow to 6+ inches, require schools, and room to swim
4 glowlight tetra - needs a larger school
1 guppy
3 neon tetra - needs a larger school
2 honey gourami's
1 swordtail
1 pleco - grow to 18+ inches and create more waste than most home aquarist's are willing to deal with ( yes, I have one)
1 CAE - grow to 10 inches and become VERY aggressive as they age
1 more iridescent shark - are you kidding me?

Can you even physically fit that many fish in that small of tank? It seems like you would be stacking them one on top of another--fish pile! Sort of like playing sardines--but with poor fishies. Perhaps you could see if a LFS could take the excess fish in for credit towards that larger tank--then you could move up the rest of the fish.

I take this as a hypothetical question. the operaticve word is 'If'

assuming you did this..the answer is a definate Yes.

my understanding is that honey gouramis only get to be about 2" you should be fine with those,

no common pleco, no CAE(these can get aggressive when full grown.)

the silver dollars in general are too large and are a schooling fish.

you could keep the guppy, a school of tetras, the honey gouramis and the swordtail in the 29..I would opt for the 46 and get a larger school of neons or glowlights (or both in the 46) add either oto's or cories (also a schooling fish). opt for the smaller species.

the question shouldn't be will these fish still be considered "alive" in that tank...the question should be would you feel morally right stuffing all them into it.
