Holy Mad Cow!

The Good News is: I believe you have to eat part of a dead infected animal to catch the disease.

The Bad News is- it's a fish eat fish world- and fish... ummm... eat fish. So were this to get out into the oceans- it could potentially spread... Fish gets mad fish disease... eaten by bigger fish... etc, etc, etc.

Biggest fish eventually dies- smaller fish eats the remains... small fish now has mad-fish disease and the cycle resumes...

... I think I had a CAE with mad-fish disease once.

I can see how this could be a concern... hopefully it'll never escape into the oceans.

I guess I'll have to stop eating fish brains now!

ok this is good information to know but how is it at all usefull i mean what fish farms use cow and sheep brains as food for this study to even be revelant

Most commercial animal feed is made from the remains of other animals.

Sad, but true ...

I only hope the officials who allow these practices are eating the same foods we do. When I die from one of the dangerous diseases these practices foster, I want my congressman in the bed next to me with the same disease!

Even worse than that, it is my understanding that if you read on the label on a can of cat/dog/etc. food and see the words "animal digest" that this means the stomach and intestines of the "food source" went into that product, with their contents intact! Please; someone tell me I am wrong!

I have said this for years only to be laughed at. The truth is it only takes one dead cow dying in a river or stream for it to happen.

exactly ie africa where this have bovines of all sorts and rivers that travel out to sea,.. very freaky,..

Anything that is labeled as "beef and beef by-products" has a real chance of contracting the disease. We do need to be aware as much of the farm raised fish are fed by-products that don't go directly to your table.

"Soylent Green" is looking more and more appetizing!
