Wow, my tank is leaking.

JEsussssssss. You must be spoiled! Your dad is just buying you all that expensive stuff??? I had to get a job to support my hobby! I work hard for my stuff!!

Nope, Sadly, I am not spoiled.:(
I am using 2 years of X-MAS money and 1 year of B-DAY money plus some of my own cash to start it up.
2 years X-MAS= $200
1 year B-DAY= $200
My own Cash=$150
Amazon Gift Cards= $35
I also sold some things(the old light fixture that came with the tank, a fluval 405 that came with the tank, etc.)

So far I have spent $239.99 on a canister filter with free shipping, $280 for a light fixture with legs, splash guard kit, extra switch&cord, including shipping and tax. Catalina made me a great deal!:D I SAVED OVER $100!!!

I still need to upgrade to a better heater, and need to buy a Co2 System(getting it as a GRAD present OR this year X-MAS present).

The only things my parents payed for is the gravel(~$120) and a stand that my dad has to pay for to build because I was planning on getting a stand but he was SURE that the dresser could handle the weight but since he is wrong, he is funding for most supplies(we already own a power drill, electric saw, and everything u need 2 build a stand)

ALSO,

I MADE SOME OF MY MONEY BY BREEDING AND SELLING FANCY GUPPIES, RED CHERRY SHRIMP, AND PLATYS,
My LFS gives you store credit for any fish/shrimp u bring in, so when it is time to stock the tank, I will just take all my baby shrimp, some adult shrimp, all guppies, and all my platys in for store credit.

im not sure if u got your light fixture but i order one of these for my 150 gallon tank and you would save alot it has free ship also though not sure about switchs or anything though http://cgi.ebay.com/48-T5-Aquarium-...200?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19c4156660 so far i really like mine >.> very birght though my tanks not all set up just yet but thats what i call a deal >.>

I did see that but didn't want a external ballast and hadn't seen any reviews on it, and didn't know if it was real or would die out in a while because the price was REALLY cheap!!!
It is already too late,
I ordered the lighting fixture($210), legs($10), splash guard kit($75), extra cord&switch($20), plus tax and shipping for $280!
I saved more than $100!

I am happy with my choice though, because CATALINA fixtures/products have the best reviews and the best prices.
Also, the fixture comes with a 5 year warranty.:)

thanks

The ebay one looks like an Odyssea fixture. If it is then they are available www.aquatraders.com. They can be difficult to get accurate reviews since the Odyssea line picked up a bad reputation (supposedly some of the MH fixtures caught fire) years ago. General concensus now seems to be that they work fine as long as you don't expect high-quality.

Catalina fixtures would be higher quality. Whether the average planted tank would notice that quality is debatable (since T5HO fixtures can easily jump into overkill for the average planted tank), but there is definitely a quality difference.

There is also www.fishneedit.com for light fixtures.

Hi guys,

My dad came home early 2day with a genius idea. So, we took 2 car jacks and put them under the dresser on either side, and lifted the taank, and stand up safely(it was pretty risky, but i had already emptied half the tank), and then we placed bricks under the center in the back and front, and WALLAH:woot:, IT WAS LIKE MAGIC IT WORKED!!!:D
Now the stand/tank are balanced and there is no curve/sagging at all. I have pics now!!! This is ONLY TEMPORARY FOR UNTIL WE BUILD THE STAND!!!

I am so happy!

In the pics it shows that is level cuz we used a leveler thingy that my dad uses whenever he does any work with wood/power tools.
EDIT: IN THE PICS, IT STILL LOOKS LIKE IT IS SAGGING, BUT THAT IS AN ILLUSION, I MEASURED EVERYTHING, AND EVERYTHING IS LEVEL.
The tank and Stand

The Leveler(if the bubble is in the center, then it is level) :D

REMEMBER GUYS, THIS IS ONLY TEMPORARY, I WILL NEVER DO THIS AGAIN!!!

My pleco is impossible to net cuz it is in a 20G, and is longer than my heavy duty large cichlid/catfish net(pleco is 10", net is 9").
Trying to move it into 72G.
Water Parameters as of 1 hour ago.
Nitrates~5
Nitrites~0ppm
Ammonia~0ppm
Ph-7.6(going down slowly)

Some pics of the tank with my giant anubias in it, the aerator set up, and my 10+" Plecostomus Catfish. I will sell the catfish once I start planting because the pleco always unroots all my plants except anubias, and javav fern.

I will be starting a journal once the lighting and filter get here!

You should not plant anubius, or Java ferns in the substrate. If you cover the stolon,(stem, roots, ect.) you will kill them. They should be tied to driftwood, or rocks, then the roots will take hold and attach themself.

I don't plant java fern, but I have had this giant anubias since it was a baby plant(only 4 inches tall) and have grown it in low light(18 watt t-8 bulb) for over a year. I have never had any problems. I leave the main parts out so that it doesn't die. Thanks

I am buying driftwood soon
