which of these is the best of the 2. also how do you get them to root down to gravvel. i like the look of the xmas moss but does it have any special needs that the other plants dont?

i don't believe they have special needs and you can get them to stay attached to driftwood and larger rocks by tying fishing line or cotton thread.i like the looks of christmas moss but its more expensive than java.i would say go with christmas moss
I am really thrilled with how my xmas moss is taking off. I like it much better than java, and I assume (and hope) its less invasive. I have never seen any moss other than java at the lfs though, I got the xmas on the forums. As soon as the weather isnt freezing, and I sign up with paypal :irked:, I'll probably have tons of it to post for sale.
Personally, I like both Java Moss, and Christmas Moss. Java Moss tends to be alittle more unruly, and scraggly, where Christmas moss tends to be more compact. They both look very similar though, but you can always tell the Java Moss because it has longer and stringier appearances, looking slightly more unkept, in other words, not quite as "neat". But really, I do love BOTH of them! :grinno:
