Look into any of the Marineland Magnums. The H.O.T. is my favorite- run it with the micron cart. Tou can even add a couple tablespoons of DE and get the polishing even finer.

How do you do that? Just drop it in the hole in the cart. or drop it around it???

HOT magnums are probably the cheapest polisher. You could just get a diatomic filter as well.

This is what I do with my HOT Magnum. Use the micron as needed. When using it as a standard filter I put 50% AquaClear Biomax in the cartridge and fill the rest with good 'ol cheap filter padding. I do use the foam sleeve. The filter padding I'll replace as a judgment call--the Biomax never. I run two of them on my 55gal. Since going to this arrangement the water has been crystal.
