I was getting ready to buy another box of XP fine pads (the ones that go on the top of the stack) and then though why not use floss insead. It is cheaper and should accomplish the same thing. Has anyone tried this?

I use floss. I like the Big Al's brand because it is in sheets as opposed to loose. I made a template and cut a whole whack of squares that will fit the baskets and just take one out when I need it.

I did just that with my XP2.

The floss doesn't seem to get the microscoping stuff as well as the Rena pads do.

I use polyester fiberfill...the craft stuff. Does a great job and is cheaper that the Rena pads. I fill a basket with it, but I do put a sponge pad over the top so no fibers get into my impeller. And maybe they wouldn't...I'm just a tad paranoid :D
