:clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:

jsut the member i wanted to see....it says you are an "angelfish expert" lol
do you know of any good beginner stuff for angels/discus?

302!!!! :bday: :bday: :bday:

yea i do!

if you want an angel/discus tank, you should start with a 125 gallon tank with plenty of plants and driftwood :D (this provides plenty of stability, and you can always get a bigger tank... bigger is better!)
angels are much easier to keep than discus. angels are fine alone, in pairs, or in trios, but discus do best in groups of 6 or more.
if you ant only angels, then you could have a pair in a 30 gallon, or a group of three or four in a 55 gallon, or a school of 6 in a 75 gallon.
if you want only discus, you should still get a 125 gallon tank and then get 8

some people say that angels have parasites that are lethat to discus, but i know plenty of people where the disucs have outlived the angels.
angels may also outcompete discus for food, so if you want angles and discus in the same tank, i would have the discus in a school and then have a pair of angels (this is the 125 gallon)

you NEED to give discus plenty of different foods for them to be healthy- the highest quality discus pelleted food along with some brine shrimp and bloodworms

angels are more forgiving in what you give them and they will do fine on a high quality flake as their staple diet but they needome variety as well

put the tetras and corydoras in the tank before the discus and angels, and then put the disus in, and then the angels. watch carfully and see if everyone of the discus are getting enough food- moving the angels to save the (at least) $50 discus from starving is plenty of an excuse to get an extra 30 gallon tank :D

any more advice for me?
or sites?

thanks, now i'm on 305!! :bday: :bday:

Hi,

In my opinion Angels are annoying. Here are some of my experiences with them.

About four years ago, I got two black Angels. They did good for about 8 months, but then started to fight like crazy. Then they got internal parasites and died at about 10 months. :mad2:

After they died I got two Marble Angels. They did good for about 10 months and them every thing went down hill from there. The big one was always chasing the little one and then both of them got body slime. Then they got ick and died. :mad2:

About one year ago I got four Angles (two white, one chocolate lace, and one marble). After about eight months they paired off and started to fight. One of the pairs laid eggs about three times. They were fighting too much so I gave the white pair to a local pet store. The marble one got hole in the head from all the stress of fighting (thats why I gave the two whites away). Right now the chocolate lace one maybe has fin rot (not sure) and the marble one hasn't been eating for a long time :mad2:.

I'm not saying Angelfish are a bad fish (I still really like angels in general), I just have not had good experiences with them.

If you chose to get angels, I hope they do much much better then mine have.

Good luck!

Congrats on your 305 and five posts! I've only been here two and a half months and I already have about 340 posts. Maybe I'm posting too much :joke:!

what size tank was it?
was the size differance major?

Hi,

The tanks were 33 and 54 gallons. Only half a inch difference in size. But it doesn't really matter, what happened, happened.
