Yellow Betta - Rare?

I saw a white betta (would call it albino, but it has black eyes) in a LFS where I can be seen lurking around from time to time. The LFS employee, who is a old time friend o' mine, has another white in his house.

FWIW I know Mark isn't a yellow betta in the true breeding sense of the word, but he's still yellow for the most part and looks pretty cool :)

BTW when I got him he was off-white. He yellowed up with good food and good water. THe redsand blues came out when I put him in the 36g community tank. He must be enjoying himself 'cause iMO he looks pretty healthy.

i saw one in walmart last week, until then i have never seen one other then in a pic. however he was dead, but he would have been a beautiful fish if i could have gotten to him before his demise

Roan, I think Mark is lovely. I know exactly what you mean about them coloring up with good food and clean water. I have a darling cambodian female that I bought at Wal-Mart complete with brown water(yuck) at no extra charge.:D I didn't realize how attractive she was until I brought her home and put her in clean water. She colored up really good by the second day that I had her.

poor fishy! make sure to add some melafix to his water and keep it extra clean to help his fins grow back. i bought a crowntail that had a damaged tailfin and its grown back, but the rays never split into the "crown" shape. he's still pretty though ^_^

and roan, i think mark is gorgeous. i love his color with the nice streaks of blue and purple.

WOW!!! That was so great of you to rescue that fellow. I imagine most people who looked at him thought "Yuck" and never gave him a second thought. You saw his real beauty. What a lucky guy.

I don't know if yellow are rare or not.

Roan-Mark is GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!! Is he the guy who lives in the cool little tank with the budha type dude? I love that tank.

I think it was pretty cool of you to rescue the betta, too.

Thanks for the comments on Mark, guys :) He's actually my daughter's betta and she picked him out at Petsmart.

Thanks :)

Unfortunately, Jakers, the betta that lived in the budha tank, passed away from complications that developed after a very severe bought of ich.

He seemed fine after treatment, but didn't have the same old "zip" and attitude. He began wasting away and nothing I did helped. I ended up euthanizing him.

Now, of course, after seeing how Mark is in the 36g tank, I can't help but wonder if Jakers would have recovered better in there instead of in the 6 gallon he was in.

Thanks for the comments guys! I just took a close look at my betta, and I can see that his fins are starting to grow back already! Oh, and I followed that link for betta colors, and my guy isn't that kind of yellow at all - he's not transluscent. He's going to be put into a new tank today, so I'll see if I can get a better photo of him to show his color better. :)
