My female yellow guppy died lastnight from unknown reasons. We're going to get our water tested today.. Before she died though she was hiding a lot. She got stuck to the filter at one point. I though before that happend that she was going to have babies. But she died not to long after she got stuck. It looked like some of her inner skin had ripped a bit. Can anybody tell me if she was sick or something?

I have no idea but I am sorry for your loss.

That does not look good! That looks even worse then when my girl died about a few months ago. Mine was dropsy Im pretty sure, but I have no clue what that is.... sorry for your loss. I ahvent been able to keep guppies since, they die wayy to easily.

I've raised guppies for over 40 years. There could be a combination of things that went wrong leading to the death of your guppy. Many strains only last 10 - 12 months. Life expectancy can be shorter depending on the temp the fish are kept at. With the body appearing to be bloated and the body color change I would guess either bound with fry or a bacterial infection. Either could be brought on by older age. I'm sorry for your loss.

We just got our water tested and found out our nitrate is lethal. We're going to do a 25% water change. The platy didnt look like the guppy did. I dont really know about the skin thing.. My other fish dont look like they have it but who knows.. But our angel was acting funny.. twitched a bit last night... probably because the nitrate level. Maybe it was just the nitrate that killed them?
Jose is doing a W/C as we speak.
Also.. she had fry over a month ago and didnt have anymore. She was late at having the other batch.. Did trying to give birth kill her? We only had her for 3 months.
Somebody else said she may have had columnaris.
I think it was the nitrate level and something else.

Thanks......(I think the male guppy misses her. he was swimming around and it looked like he was looking for her. ) we have another female too but shes alive.
