Sorry about the hijacking, wasn't thinking.
Bought a pair of Large amazon swords that were dark green, now a couple of leaves are turning yellow on one plant and the other the undersides of the leaves are turning yellow. Any ideas?

It is not uncommon for plants to suffer transplant shock and lose some leaves. Cut yellowing leaves back as close to the gravel as possible. If you have new leaves appearing then the plant is not dying. Swords need gravel based fertilizer to do well.

Thanks! I've been using the tablet fertilizers, hopefully it will work. Would you know what causes a hole in the leaves? Snails?

Hey man I was just teasing... no offense meant.

To your issue, maybe they are not getting enough light? Aren't swords medium/high light plants? Maybe not enough nutrients. How much light does your tank have?

Don't know how to measure the amount of light. My tank is a 46 gallon bow style with a 36" strip light. (the one that came with the tank set up). The length of the tank is 36". I am planting the tablet fertilizers around the roots. Seems that one plant has the leaves turning yellow at a faster rate than the other.

Its a 40 watt bulb which isn't really enough. I would recommend going to home depot and getting a shop light with 2 bulbs on it to put on the tank. They are about $15-$20. That is what I did and it works great.

I think the aquarium store has lights specifically for plant growth. Would that be the same as going to home depot and getting a bulb from there?

It's the brightness that counts, and with only one 40 watt bulb isn't enough. Like I said, just go over 2 home depot and get a ballast the holds 2 bulbs and you can also get 2 6500K bulbs there. With that, you should be fine. Most of the time, the bulbs that say they are for the plants are just advertising so you will pay more. For the plants, you will want to get bulbs that are between 5000K and 6500K. These light colors are what plants do best in.
