You ever have something stolen from you?

Recently my girlfriend had her car broken into. The person/people used a long plastic rod-like thing to take down her back seat (didn't even know her back seats went down!) and steal things from the trunk. They stole some books, a DVD box set and some clothes. :mad2:

I know it could be worse but it really ticked me off, not even counting the rear broken window she had to replace and the shattered glass all over the car.

My friend and my uncle each had their car stolen a few years ago. I can't even imagine their anger and helplessness (uncle got his car back, friend never did).

How about you?

Thankfully nope, I live in a rurul area....no-one could be bothered to steal anything...:). Although at high school occasionally I'd go to my bag and find my lunch gone...wallet with money in it left...bag left...discman left...food gone...I guess my sandwiches must have been pretty good :).

My mom once had her car stolen while she went inside a gas station to pay for her gas, in broad daylight. They found it a few days later, stripped, in a ditch. It was a good thing, since you can't recoup much when you leave your keys in the car. To this day, I never leave my keys when I go into a store. You'd think it's safe, since it's still in your line of sight, but it's not.

2 Christmas's in a row my Grandparents had gifts stolen from their van. Then the next year, the van itself was stolen. Luckily, they found it intact in a neighboring town. Just kids on a joy ride...

On a somber note, I've seen the family court system help vicious ex wives steal children away from their fathers - happened to a few friends of mine actually.

I had a car stolen from right outside of my home within 10 mnutes with a basket load of fresh laundry and 2 bags of groceries. I was never right after it, and was paranoid about my car being stolen from then after. I would run to the window if I heard a peep outside. Installed a floodlight, everything. That lasted for years and sometimes now I still get a little antsy. They did recover the car but they destroyed it.

I've also had a car broken into and the radio stolen before that but that wasn't too impacting on me. In the city, it happens.

Yup. Some idiots back in Bloomington smashed out my window my freshman year of college. They stole only my cell phone. I guess it was just for fun, but it wasn't very fun to pick up all the shards of glass out of the car.

Some idiots in Martinsville took a hammer and screwdriver to the quarter panel of the same car a couple years later. My BF had driven it to his roofing job at the time, and they didn't like him because he has long hair, doesn't listen to contemporary country, and won't eat at McDonald's.

That car got totaled by some idiot back in Bloomington that didn't even have insurance.

My next car had a dent kicked in the fender for no reason by some drunk idiots at a party in Bloomington. I didn't even attend said party, but parked the car on the street to go out to a bar. They also ashed their cigarettes all over the hood, and I saw some liquid on the car that I am hoping was beer (it's hard to tell domestic beer from the other liquid in question).

i had a bicycle stolen from me on Christmas Day when i was young... i had recieved the bike as a gift from my parents, and someone walked up, opened the garage door, and walked away with my bike.. everybody thought it was me getting it out to ride when they heard the garage, until i came out of my bedroom playing with another toy. that REALLY sucked.. i didnt even get to ride it.

i've had my car broken into once.. they caught the guy a week later in the middle of a home invasion armed robbery.. i never got my stuff back tho.

My aunt had all her cds in her car stolen.
