Really? I saw a show on a national geographic show and they showed it happening. I wonder how they did that ??

Look at how the water comes into the bowl, it is angled already, thats what causes the water to spin one way or another. Have the water enter the other direction, it spins the opposite way. Take your sink for instane, fill it to near the top, open the drain, then use your hand to spin it one way or another, it will spin both ways.
The coriolis effect does not influence such small localized things, it will affect weather and what not, but doesnt have much impact in a toilet or sink.
not so slip....try it with a penny in one of those funnel things. It always spins the same way....it has to do with the rotation of the earth.
Also, another example would be one of those really big pendulums you see in some museums. They always rotate in the same direction.
On the bottom of the earth...things rotate the other way...think about it...even the clouds spin opposite in the southern hemisphere than they do in the north.

I dont know about the pendulums either way, perhaps it does come into play, but its not really comparable to your toilet anyway.
I have read the same thing as Slip. It is how the toilet bowl is designed, not where on the planet you are.
A true scientist does not give any merit to what can not be proven to exist.
You can not prove that the Tooth Fairy does not exist. Does that mean that scientists give it credit? No. If you can't find it to quantify it, it is mere speculation and has no standing in any scientific explanation.
No one will ever prove than any mythical creature does not exist. If you would like to rest behind that fact to give your argument credence, then you are just saying "Cause it's true and I know it!".
The big bang happened because a reality with either 7 or 11 dimensions was unstable and fractured. All but 4 of these dimension shrank into practically nothingness while the rest expanded. And it is still expanding today. The Temporal dimension we call Time was a Spatial dimension like Width, Height, and Length still are, before this fracture.
If you break something down past the Atom stage you come up with a tiny particle called a Quark. Quarks have been observed to blip into and out of observable reality. Therefore matter can come from (to us) nowhere.
But still all the matter that makes up the universe was probably there before the Big Bang, in the previous reality. Now it's being carried away on the new arrangement of this reality and its expansion of the dimensions.

And I agree with that, over large distances it does make a difference, it will impact large weather systems. Hurricanes and what not are definatlely affected, though they can still spin the opposite way on occasion. Tornados are not affected much if at all by the coriolis effect.
You did say water spins down the drain the opposite directions north vs. south. That is not true. The penny comment is untrue as well.

This universe contains many universes.....think about one celled creatures. They live in a universe that they are familiar with....we can see them...they cannot see us (never mind the possibility wiether they have eyes or not or even the ability to think, that we know of
)........they have no conception of the universe WE live in, which surrounds them on all sides, above and below. The ant that is walking accross the ground in front of your foot...cannot see you. You are too large for it to even comprehend.......does that mean we dont exist? Maybe to the ant it does.......but that doesn't change the fact that we do indeed exist. That one celled organism's or that ant's 'reality' does not cancel out the fact that we are here. Even though, it cannot see us. We can pick that ant up and place it somewhere else and it has no clue how that happened....
I say, that because of the evidence of all these smaller universes one on top of another...starting with the quarks..(which, by the way, we cannot SEE, but we know they are there by the effect they have on things around them)......I argue the possibility that it doesn't stop with us. That there is the possibility that there is a universe beyond us that we cannot perseve or even understand...like that ant or paramecium can in no way understand or even comprehend US !
A scientific theory on the scientific "possibility" of a greater being higher than us....based on observation of what we do know to exist.....how do you test that theory ? I have no idea ! LOL ! But something to ponder and consider......
