- everything you own is "custom made"

- you buy an item designed for a specific purpose...... and have no intention of using it for that specific purpose.

- you fix something that's broken, and it works better than it did originally.

- You buy a perfectly good item, specifically to use for spare parts.

- Nothing you buy remains in it's original state for more than a day.

........... keep'em comin

When you have over a 100 2x4's in your garage.
And
Your more excited to build a stand then to get the actual tank on it.

When you have more electrical design plans memorized than your kids birthdays and other special events

When you completely rebuild your tank stand because its 1/64th of an inch off center bubble.

you would rather spend twice as much on something building it yourself rather than go out and buy it

you never throw out any scrap of wire, pvc, lumber, plexiglass, becuase you never know when you might need it for another project

when you decide to completly redo the entire tank rather than fix the one broken pane of glass.

when you get bored and build things for stuff you don't have

When you accidently break things just so you can fix them.

when there's no room to park the car in the garage because of the scrap wood pile.

Biggest DIY-er I've ever met. Had kitty doors that would open only for his 2 cats because of their little radio collars and a garage door opener. This may not sound remarkable now, he had this working in 1962. He did it because he got tired of his cats' "friends" hanging around in the house.

Exactly!

-When you make a 20g tank out of glass less than 1/4" thick just becuase you have the materials sitting around.

Then the problem is finding something to put in it.

-When you take the drill bit and put it against the wall of your house to run your drain pipes and your girlfriend looks at you like you're out of your mind.

- When you search craigslist for "building supplies"

When you take the drill bit and put it against the wall of your house to run your drain pipes and your girlfriend DOESN'T look at you like you're out of your mind.
