your apistogramma/general dwarf setups

There are actually at least four species within Dicrossus. Dicrossus filamentosus is the only regularly commercially available species. Dicrossus maculatus has only been available on a limited basis from specialized importers for many years. Recently, a couple other species have started to pop up--D. sp. "Tapajos", which you also see pictured with my macs (they have the narrow check-marks instead of square spots), and also a D. sp. "Rio Negro". I have kept and bred filamentosus and maculatus, but I have yet to find females for the Tapajos. Actually the tapajos were a lucky by-catch with the maculatus, so I wasn't actually able to order them. They all tend to be pretty peaceful fish and do best with non-aggressive, less-boisterous fishes.

here is the new tank

as promised, but boy is it a bad picture (sad thing is, it was the best of the lot i snapped before the battery went down). there seems to be a smear on the glass in front of the center. two brush piles, the center piece and leaf litter with peat in the filter. Pennywort and Hornwort floating, Amazon, amazon compactia and ruffled swords. Going to put some anachris back in and try some cabomba I think. As for the apisto's, they arrive tomorrow, let us hope they thrive.

wow i love your tank.are all the big plants in the middle amazon sword?? i have 2 in my tank and will be getting more, just curious, how long before they are "max" size for tank?? like a month or 2?? they are fast growers arent they...

actually, the big one is an amazon and its no where near its full size, and I think two of the small ones are as well (daughter plants). the ruffleds haven't done that well and most of them are kinda spindly; i am hoping with the new co2 setup and a change in fert dosing they will do better, but most of them got replanted. the nice, lush short ones in front are amazon compactia. those have done really well and i am going to have to start selling daughter plants before long. this is a 55g 36x18 footprint btw.

and here are the apisto's themselves, I apologize for the photo quality again. I snapped a bunch last night as a spur of the moment, and didn't clean up from the tank work i've been doing. I got a pair of Apistogramma Panduro and a trio of Apistogramma Agassizi weds and they are settling in. at the time I took these, they had been in the tank less then 36 hours, they have colored up a bit more and are eating.
