Your input is APPRECIATED

certainly will. it was a bookshelf with tons of supporting 2x4's. I hope to post back Monday with the changes.

I went to Walmart, and covered my metal stand with a black mold proof-cloth shower curtain for around $10. It goes much better in the livingroom now. When I need something from the shelf underneath, I just lift it up and let it hang back down.

In 7 months of use, it's still totally waterproof. The water just beads off. Saves my carpet too when I get sloppy with the water changes.

do you have any pics of what it looks like without the sheel on it? it may be easier to suggest things if we saw exactly what you are working with :)

nope, no pix at the current time. it was about 5 level bookshelf. thanx to eveyone's suggestions, I might have a new post inside the DIY section come Monday a.m :o)

I don't have any advice for your setup, but I noticed something about your tank. If the plants I circled in your photo are live plants, they wont do too well and die. The three plants up front are not actually aquatic. The bamboo looking plant on the left has to have a good part of it out of the water to survive.

If they are plastic, then they are super convincing and fooled me! ps: your fish are really pretty!

akimball - you are spot on. those are real and have done nothing but grow like weeds since I put them in about a month ago. I was planning on transplanting the bamboo out into a bowl and have it as a centerpiece on our livingroom table. where would you suggest I put the other 3 ?

Um I would put the bamboo in a container with some tank gravel and water, like this:

As for the other three, they can probably just go in a pot with regular soil, or you could try to get a refund from where you purchased them.

Here's the thread regarding plants to watch out for:
