Your vote for miss universe?

I think its funny we have yet to see any votes for a contestant!!

I'm voting for Canada, she looks like the most shapely within my limited attention span, and I'm a bit biased even if I can't pronounce her last name.

But Miss Universe? How many other planets are competing? The odds are definitely stacked in favour of the Earth.

Seriously though, while I agree that pageants support unhealthy eating habits, I didn't say "are responsible for" or "cause", merely support; they are simply a symptom of society. I know that that sounds like a cop-out, but they're called "beauty pageants" so the contestants are going to do their best to fit what we as society view as "beauty". If society viewed dangerously obeise people as 'beautiful', the issue would be exactly the opposite and we'd be talking about a woman who gained weight by eating nothing but deep fried foods for 3 months.

I'm with you Snake, I'm pretty active. I'll try not to lose weight, but I will anyway. Drives my rowing wife crazy.

Got it. The Canadians vote for Miss Canada.

I personally think Albania is the prettiest.

I do think our image of an ideal woman is NOT "in shape" or healthy. When you starve yourself, you don't get necessary nutrients. Your energy levels go down and sometimes you get sick. I know a few people with eating disorders, and I used to have one off and on. My little brother we suspect is anorexic; he hated being fat because he got teased (which, I might add, comes from this scrawny ideal) and he has lost about thirty pounds in two months. He is obsessed with food and weight. He eats less than five hundred calories a day and excercizes several times a day. He cries if he exceeds the five hundred calorie limit. Tease if you want, but I think it is sad.

In the societies where the population is generally overweight, underweight is considered ideal. In a society where the population has little food and is starving, overweight women are considered ideal. A healthy weight won't be ideal until the societies can achieve a healthy weight.

I put my vote in for Miss Columbia, mostly because Miss Utopia Planitia/Mars didn't make it to the contest in time. I hear Miss Pluto was a real b**ch this year... some say she's colder than ice!
