i have 6 zebra danios in my current paludarium set up. for those who dont know a paludarium is kinda like a 1/2 terrarium and 1/2 aquarium. my wife made ours out of a spare 55 we had, and has approx 10 gallons of water. anyway... a buddy of mine suggested that i get a pair of fiddler crabs for the tank...
my question is does anybody know how much salt the danios will tolerate if added very slowly? i ask this because i know some species of molly you can actually slowly acclimate to life in a reef tank. i know that the crabs like a salinity of 1.005-1.010. a far cry from my reef tank at 1.025. my buddy keeps his in a 29 community tank with a salinity of like 1.006 with no problems, but he doesnt have any danios.
thanks much!

i dont know if this will help you but as a remedy for ich, ive added about 35 tablespoons for aquarium salt to my 90 gal tank, i have 3 zebra danios in the tank among other, the salt has been in the tank for 5 days now and the zebras are thriving!

there's a difference between the aquarium salt you added as an ich remedy and the sea salt he will be adding to bring up the salinity level.

i'm gonna be adding marine salt. i have already added some salt - i'm up to 1.003 now and the danios seem to be much happier and same with the crabs. i'm probably gonna bring it up to around 1.005 over the next week or so and keep an eye on everybody.

Nope. Not found in remotely brackish waters, so I doubt it's good for them long term.
