The Zebra:
- I can keep one more in the tank (group of 4)
- don't grow as large as Yoyos
- hardy for a loach
- i hear they can be fin nippers
- good personality?
- are they shyer than Yoyos?

The Yoyo:
- grow larger than Zebras
- i could keep a group of 3
- i hear they have great personalities and are outgoing
- are more sensitive than the Zebra

What to do...?

I had a yo yo loach that was psycho! It would swim crazy all over the tank. I also caught it sucking on the side of my Discus so I put it in my African Cichlid tank. I would hear water splashing from time to time and it would be the Yo Yo loach flying up and down the tank. It eventually calmed down and just kind of hung out around the rocks. Very social fish though. Real pretty too! Did a great job of keeping the gravel clean when I would feed my fish. It also did most of the chasing in my Cichlid tank which I thought was funny!

i keep a group of 6 or 7 yo yos in my african cichlid tank, they are far from sensitive and are a great fish. they do get 6 inches, so be sure you have space for them but i would keep at least 3 or 4

What size tank? And what are you thinking for tankmates? With this information we could give you a better idea on wich maybe better for you or even a group of loaches that you have yet to consider.

jn:

Zebra: some personality but shyer than Yoyo's.

Yoyo's: will loose their distinctive colorations as they age.

I just went through this last week. I chose the zebras (3) due to the smaller adult size. That will let me add more of other kinds of fish.

How are they working out? Do you have them with any other fish?

I've got a 36g and trying to figure out what I want in it... I had a couple of Dario loaches before in a community tank and loved them. The Darios were the fish we grew attached to the most.
