I was checking my Cichlids today and noticed that the Zebra's mouth is white and it has a piece of skin hanging on the side. Could this be due to fighting or from crushed corals? I don't see much aggression in the tank. Everyone is minding there own business, only once in a while they chase each other. I am attaching couple of pictures. Would Melaflix help?
The mouth abrasion could have occured as a result of the crushed coral or a fight. Melafix may help with the healing (as would other alternatives), but it will probably heal all on its own.
By the way, your 'zebra' looks like it has a high dose of yellow lab in it's lineage.

This was the very first Cichlid I bought from Petsmart. Initially I thought it was a Yellow Lab as well, but then I was told that it's a Zebra. Yellow labs have a black line on the top.
The overall structure and shape of the fish is very yellow lab like, especially the head and mouth. If it had the black fin markings, it could pass for a full blooded lab (as it is, it lacks typically zebra structure characteristics). Solid yellow (or yellowish) labs are sometimes derived from l. caeruleus x m. estherae crossbreeding.
