Zig Zag Eels

Does anyone know what kind of water conditions zig zag eels need?

I've looked into getting a zig zag or other type of eel and I have been told that most freshwater eels are pretty hardy.

I have a spiny eel in rather soft acidic water and he's doing well. Only problem is that he rarely eats anything other than live worms.
