So i went and got some zucchini for my clown pleco, sliced it up, and put it on a food clip, and no one touched it for a whole day that it was in there. how do i coerce him to eat it??

i was told the like zucchini, but he didnt touch it

is that wierd?

or is oreck (like the vacuum), my clown pleco, just dumb??

sometimes it takes fish a while to realize something is food. i would try feeding zucchini at least a few times and see if your pleco changes his mind on it. some fish just don't like certain foods, and he might just be a picky pleco, lol.

did you micro-nuke it? could be it's too hard or doesn't smell the same. also try putting it more towards the bottom of the tank to get his attention.

micro-nuke? huh? and it was almost at the bottom.

I have a clown plec that loves zucchini... to get yours to eat if for the first time use a toothpick to poke small holes in the raw zucchini. Then stuff a shrimp pellet into each of the holes (6-8). After doing that, your plec (and all of his tank-mates) will be interested in the zucchini.

To keep the zucchini at the bottom of the tank, I use 'The Screwcumber'. http://www.screwcumber.com/

Blanch the zucchini for twenty to thirty seconds, then place it on the bottom of the tank near your clown's favorite hiding place.

micro-nuke; cooking zucchini in the mircowave for 20* seconds to make it soft and tastier for fishies.

I just recently tried out sliced zucchini for my common plec. I hold it down by looping a plant weight through it. I was about to give up, when on the third day I woke up an found the center eaten out of it. I put more in, and again it took three days -- then the slices were completely gone overnight.

My plec seems to be a binge eater.
