I've got my substrate and my salt. It's in the right zone for salinity. The tank is pretty cloudy. A couple of questions, How long until it clears? How long until I can start adding my live rock? and Is there anything line Biospira for saltwater tanks. I'm planning on having a FOWLR.

Thanks, I've picked up quite a bit from lurking around here.

Yeah I wad wondering when my sand would clear too when I started. It took about... it was clear on the 2nd day. That was also When I got half of my LR. I got the other half about a week later.

Did you rinse your substrate before you added it or was it the 'live' sand stuff? Either way it should settle and your water should clear in 3-4 days. You could have added your live rock first and then your sand right after it. I find it works better this way because the rock is resting on the tank with the sand poured around it to stabalize the rockwork. Especially if you plan on getting sand sifting or burrowing creatures. Since you already have the sand in there go ahead and add the LR to the tank just try to get it to the bottom as far as possible and use your LR to cycle your tank with. I would read the sticky at the top of the page regarding cycling. Bio Spira is not really the way to go with SW. If you cycle your tank correctly the first time you will have very few problems with the tank as opposed to taking a shortcut. JMHO. SW takes patience, and more patience. If you have patience with SW everything will be ok.

Thanks for the responses.

It's clearing up nicely. I've added 20lbs of live rock and some base rock that was in the old freshwater tank. I'll post some pics when I get them off the camera.

Thanks,
Dave

well a ten is to small for most clowns when they are full grown and an anemone cant be kept in less than a 35 but a 50+ would be better and they require at least 4 watts per gallon of light and do best with metal halide lighting...so if u need an excuse outa that there u go...if u didnt hears is a warning to save u some money lol.:)
