Here's a link to an interesting look for a background and hiding places for fish.... Cave Background (http://www.duboisi.com/diy/BNdiygrotto/bndiygrotto.htm)
Cleaning it could be a problem... not sure..
Any opinions ?

I think its a very nice idea. Safe, non-toxic, and I bet the fish love it. I'd consider making one out of gravel and making the holes more random and not all round for a more 'natural' appearance.

cleaver design. i didn't read thru the page write-up, but seems like you can just lay it against the back side of the tank without affixing it permanently. if so, a gentle wiggling in a regular basis may be enough to free it from collecting small debris. but then, it's hard to see what's going on behind the wall, in case any fish gets caught off-guard by maintenance. looks great though.
