ph level

I set up a new 55 gallon tank and can't my ph level to drop. I have been using ph decrease for the last few days and have seen no change according to my test kit(always reads 8.4). Any advice?

whats your KH? if i had to lower my ph there are better ways to do it. most fish are fine in a higher ph. messing with it just going to cause more harm then good in most cases.

your ph is fine ... if you try to modify it you'll open a whole 'nuther can of worms.

The other two replies are spot on.

A fish would rather live at a "non-optimal" pH than a pH that is constantly changing. If you start adding pH reducing compounds then that's what's going to happen: the pH is going to swing wildly and your fish will suffer.

Just let your pH stay where it is.

What kind of fish are you planning to keep anyway?
