male/female RD

IT'S A BOY!

Well, from my experience with those fish, it's a male.

The ovipositor of a female only shows when laying eggs and after the eggs have hatched. Also notice how pointed it's "sex organ" is. The anal fin is pointed and in some females there more rounded off. The pelvic fin shows it's long pointed ends, another way to sex Labiatus or Citrinellum or X.

Im just wondering why it doesn't display some sort of a nuchal hump?

I'd tend to agree with Mr. Off Medication that it's a boy. Nice fish too, by the way.

As for why it isn't showing a nuchal hump, I'm wondering how large the fish is. It may just be a young adult and not have had a chance to develop a hump yet. Diet also has something to do with it; what is it being fed?

ive only had it about 2 months now, it eats everything and mean everything. pellets, earthworms, beafheart. i think it was raised with other RD's cause @ the LFS there were about 6 of them, all about 6-8inches in a 125gal. and they all looked very similar like they were brother/sisters and the LFS said some guy brought them in and said take em he couldnt handle them anymore. Plus i got it cheap as they were all beating the crap out of each other and the LFS wanted to get rid of em. Anyway its in a 180 with another RD that i think is a female but i had to seperate as i couldnt take anymore of the arse kickin. well maybe they are male and female and it was prespawning stuff, who knows
