I found a product that looks to be the same as the Python and I was wonder if any one has used it.
It’s called an Ultra Vac. The large one sells for about $40 less then the python.
So if any one has had any experience with it that would be great if they could let me know. Or I may just pay the $40 for the python and see how i like that.

i saw something similar to the python recently last weekend at a store and they didnt have any pythons so I dont know how much cheaper it was there but it seemed about the same but it had a neat thing on the end of the gravel vac that looked like it would keep gravel from going up the tube. It was about 40 dollars and I think the smallest python is 55 dollars (canadian) so it seemed like a deal

I'm not 100% on this, but it seemed to me that the UltraVac was a device for doing heavy vaccing without removing the water from the tank, that it wasn't that similar to the Python in function. Bag on side to collect detritus etc.

I am not familar with the Ultra Vac. I have pyhon for about 12 years now and it works great.

I've always used a python to vacuum the gravel and do water changes. In my experience items that are alot cheaper than the benchmark product usually don't function as well. Though I guess there can be exceptions to this rule of thumb.

They are exactly the same thing. The parts are even interchangable. I have two parts from an ultra vac on my python as replacement peices.

I have the Ultra Vac and it is the exact same thing as the Python for cheaper. I mean, besides for the color of the parts, there is no difference at all except for the little claw piece at the end of the vac part so you don't get any fish stuck. I didn't likee it,so I just sawed it off.

I have and use an air powered vacuum between water changes. And yes there's a small bag to catch debris -- water stays in the tank.... Very useful... :)
