I have a 55 gal with 160 watts of light and diy CO2. I have 10 different types of plants in there now(don't know which ones, unfortunately forgot the names after buying) but its still probably considered lightly stocked. I bought them all from various LFS and they were not cheap. I think to prevent algae problems I should get more plants and was thinking of trying online. Can anyone recommend a good, and cheap online plant store?

Also, I am adding Kent iron traces, Grant's stump remover, NoSalt and Fleet enema for my nutrients. I have pH=6.6 and KH=2.5(had to use baking soda to get this up from 1.0). My temp is 78F. My fish are 4 angels, 1 rainbow shark, 1 pictus cat, 1 dwarf guarami and 1 clown pleco.

You can check e-bay under a search for aquarium plants and also check www.aquabid.com. I bought a package on e-bay from tycom1 and was/am very pleased. I think you just need to check out what other people have to say about anyone you are buying from on both sites.

You might try a bit of crushed coral to get your kh up and to keep it steady. I have about a 1/4 cup in my filter to get my kh up from >1 to about 4. It holds it even after a 50% water change.

Auctions might be a good way to go, though the stuff on eBay often seems pricey to me. I have bought plants from aquabotanic www.aquabotanic.com, and was always happy. The owner, Robert H hits these forums sometimes. I have heard good things from a number of folks about florida driftwood http://www.floridadriftwood.com/ . The main thing I would say is, do not, under any circumstances buy plants from petswarehouse.com. They have had a large number of unhappy customers, and when people complained about the poor quality of plants/service, the owner, Robert Novak, sued them. He is suing a lot of folks on the Aquatic Plants Digest mailing list even now. See: http://www.petsforum.com/psw/Default.html or google for aquatic plants and Novak to see how evil he is.

I prefer www.aquabid.com myself - far better for fish items than ebay IMO.

I also have gotten excellent plants from http://www.rehobothaquatics.com/index2.html

I fought with the idea of buying plants online. Yes, it is less expensive, but I am really happy to spend a few $ more and support the local fish store. Sure, it cost me 15-20% more, but I got my plants right away, I knew exactly what I was buying and they were nice about giving me some advice. So no regrets.

I was going to order from www.aquariumgarden.com/ or http://www.aquabotanic.com/

good luck

Pet Warehouse is now under the aegis of Drs. Foster and Smith, so it will be even bigger and better from now on, as its plant collection will be merged with DFnS' collection and will become cheaper.
