through what i've read, its bascially a little tablet you put in a container supplied and the tablet will create co2 through chemical reactions. I just want to know if this can replace diy co2?
here's a link

PICTURE of the device:

Isn't this working on the same principle as Alka-Seltzer? Aren't you adding an acid (citric? phosphoric?) and a (carbonate) base to your water? Is this a good way to be adding carbon dioxide?
I'm just too cautious to add anything to the water unless I know what it is. There are enough mysteries about fishkeeping anyway.

thanks guys
The device made by jungle fizz factory has only a container that is contained with co2 produced by the reactor that is outside of the water. the one with hagen has a huge co2 release device within the tank. it might be pretty hard to hide. but do these actually work. hhaha

I had used it in the past , before I went pressurized .. It did work , but in my 55gal it was not large enough . For a smaller tank it would be fine , but the cost of the tabs would add up .

I use the Hagen system. It works really good and cheap to use. The canister hangs on the back out of sight. The reactor is fairly easy to hide behind a plant or piece of driftwood. There is a thread or two on this. If you do a search on it you'll find it. We go into great detail about them.
