What would you guys think if we were to add a puffer forum. I'm running it by the other mods but want to know what you guys would think of it. I know there is a lot of confusion as to where to post questions bout puffs, and by creating a puff forum that would end confusion. If you look at all the topics in bw 90% of the them are puff related. Was just an idea, let me know what you all think.

Yay! The Puffer people in one spot? I could live with that. :)
(Of course, I'd know where to hound all of you, too...so consider that...and the fact that I would be nice and not literally hound you.)
Then where would the brackish non-puffer questions go? Ten percent of curent traffic does not seem enough to keep a forum alive.

RTR,
I respectfully disagree for two reasons.
(a) The Propagation forum is still around, with all of two threads.
(b) The need to distinguish between BW and FW is probably important enough to keep open a Brackish forum, even if the Puffer People traffic is removed.

While I can understand RTR's concern for the "non-puffer" brackish threads, I do think a "puffer" thread may be a good idea. I think sometimes there can be a bit of confusion for some when they have FW puffer questions, ask them in the FW forum and not receive the amount of different feedback they are hoping for...... whereas coming to the "brackish" forum, they seem to get more....since this is where a lot of the "puffer" people hang..... leaves the forum a bit confusing, for example, asking questions about Dwarves in the brackish forum, one might think they need to stress that they should NOT be in a brackish environment..... when the author may already know it, but just didn't get what they needed in FW....... ok, did I do well enough to confuse this all?? :D ;) :D

It's perfect, Dangerdoll...a point has been made by your post, and hopefully it will be used to get the new forum!

Thanks, but it's MSL's project...I still have little say on this board, except on the grassroots level. :)

If demands there why not?you'll still be asked questions by non-puffer keepers as brackish fishkeeping is a fairly undocumented area. How about an online book on brackish fish and their care compiled from the aquarists shared tips and knowhow?

oh yeah, hehehe.... I saw that..... hat's off to you MSA, you've definitely got my vote! ;)
EDIT: Whoops, make that MSL's....... it wouldn't be me if there weren't at least 1 typo in my posts :D
If we can maintain BW forum as well, I'm all for it - says the VNP user who hardly notices where the thread came from...
Anything that reduces puffer confusion is to the general welfare of the fish. I cannot belive these fish are becoming popular after all these years.

To their detriment, unfortunately...hopefully, a new forum could help change that!

but, but...it'd pretty much kill off the brackish forum. It seems like at lot of people have given up on their brackish tanks lately, theres almost no traffic in here any more?

I tend to disagree with that, I think there's still quite a few "brackish" only targeted questions... which still deserves it's own respect regardless if some days are slower than others.... There will still be a need, the questions will still come.
I still think it'd be better to have a "puffer" only forum to aleviate the confusion when it comes to FW and SW species of the group.......it seems since there's such a controversy over them, it'd be quite an addition to have.

Great idea! I do ocassionally check FW forums for puffer questions in this & other sites. The answers the FW folks give are usually wrong! Like, sure you can keep 2 fahakas together & worse!

I like the idea of a puffer forum as well, as long as we keep the brackish forum as well.

Thanks guys for all the support. I will pass this thread along to other Mods. Orion loves the idea and Boggiechillin ain't quite so sure. If we do add a puffer forum, brackish will be kept. Just thought would clear the air and will get back to all of you once I get more feedback from other mods. Thanks.

Right, I guess for the time, to avoid people telling you they're FW when you already know, indicate that you do know. This way no one presumes that you are unaware of it.

just put a sticky saying: (please put weather its FW or BW or even SW in the subject line)
