View Full Version : What killed the Gourami??
A friend of mine had a opaline gourami for about a year and suddenly it seemed as if it were literally shrinking in size, and the coloration was pitiful, it had been in a 10 gallon moved to a 29 then back to the 10 and had been in the 10 for about 5 months. When we found it dead it had little bumps on its body and where ever there were bumps it was red. They were like streaks, the skin had turned red in that area and it was outlined in white. Any Idea what this was and what caused it.

Aeromonas or Pseudomonas. Cause? Hard to say. Aeromonas is common in freshwater world wide. What allows the pathogen to overtake the host is hard to determine from behind a keyboard. Accumulation of waste and it's by-products are the most common culprits. Did your "friend" test the water? Other fish in the tank? Where you...I mean your friend over feeding b/c of new additions? ;) :D
Actually she had it in a 10 gallon with a bunch of guppies and a few cories. lol and no its not me, I do cichlids nothing else. I know she didn't do water changes for a fact so I'd say the by product deal is what it is. I've got a feeling her betta is next because she never changes its water either.
