My filstar XP3 finally came in today and I have a question. On my old filters I would start them and then shut them off right away to start a siphon and then the canister would fill all the way up burping all the bubbles out. I can't seem to get the filstar to do this. The water line is about 3/4 inch down in the filter itself. Is this normal? AM I missing something here?

lift the hand valve at the pump(this closes it)fill intake tube threw the opening at the top of the intake tube,then put fill cap back on.Close the hand valve(back down again)this should start the filling process.After the pump fills it self and all air bubbles have purged out,wait two minutes and then plug in pump....Your xp3 should have come with a plastic maint./fill-up card ,it explains the steps with pictures,pretty simple.hth
That should do it. It may spit and sputter occasionally for a few minutes after running as it purges more trapped air. This is normal too.
