Hi Everyone,
I have had 2 amano shrimps in my tank for about 8 months now and it looks like one of themis full of eggs. The shrimp looks more white and all the 'eggs' are located in her torso - where her extra legs are (please excuse my very unprofessional language - i don't know the anatomy of shrimp!).
I have read conflicting information on the breeding of Amano shrimp some say its really easy, others say its not.

If she is pregnant, what do i do? Any help would be appriciated!

Thanks!

Tara

Breeding the shrimp is easy. Raising the young is very difficult. Google for 'breeding amano shrimp' and you'll see how complicated it can be.

From your description is certainly sounds like she's carrying eggs. Given that it's very hard to raise the young, there's not much that you can do. If your shrimp are in an aquarium with fish then the fish will get a very nice meal when the eggs hatch. My female amano is constantly carrying eggs and I look at it as a free, nutritious meal for my fish. I just don't have the time or energy to attempt to raise amano shrimp right now.

I hope that helps a little. Sorry to sound like a nay-sayer.

Sam
