What length do auratuses (melanochromis auratus) typically reach maturity? I'm wondering if mine is female or if it is still a juvenile. I'm considering breeding them. I've had it for almost a year now, but I bought it when it was pretty small.

Please check the cpecies profile on this site. The males turn dard. the females stay yellow. :)

The species profile did not say at what length the fish turned mature.

I keep finding that they'll breed at 2"-3".

Ok thanks. Mine is about that size right now so I'll assume that it is a female.
