Adding cories next. Question about caves.

I have began stocking my 55g planted tank. So far, I have 9 Cherry Barbs and 3 Otos in the tank. The next group I plan to add is the cories. I want to try to find 5 Leopards, but may have to go with something easier to find locally.

I know they are nocturnal and need some place to "hide out" during the day. How much room would 5 need and how dark should it be. I have slate set up in my tank now that "might" be considered a cave, but is more like a bridge, IMO (see image). The tunnel/cave/opening is about 6 or 7 inches from front to back. It's not very "private" and the barbs tend to swim through it regularly.

Is my slate sufficient? If not, I am interested in what others have done by means of DIY that appears somewhat natural (would love to see images).

FYI -- My Julies are nocturnal, but all my other Cory Cats are Day-Walkers!
 
I have no caves in the 55 that the corys are in, they will hide out back in the rear in the plants, coming out to scavenge the bottom for snacks.

See 'em mostly in the early evening/night; but them I'm gone during the day, so for all I know, they could be having a fishie party!

I initially built a cave for my cories, but after never seeing them in it once in a couple months, I dismantled it. They're happy enough to congregate in the shade of some plants or near a big bunch of moss.
 
Thanks for the responses folks. It is appreciated. I wont bother to worry about adding any caves or changing what I have unless I see something that appears to be a problem.

Now to get my QT setup and cycled!
 
I DONT THINK TO MUCH SPACE IS REQUIRED JUST GIVE EM A PLACE TO STAY AND THAYLL BE HAPPY
