I found this snail looking thing attatched to one of my zoanthids. I took it out but would like an ID to see if by chance it is benificial.

It is not exactly like that but that is the closest. I say when in doubt take it out. I am going to get a little 5 gal tank to keep him in as well as a sponge.

I can't tell by your picture at all (sorry) but google sundial snail. If that is what it is, kill it. They are predatory on zoos.

Does look like a Heliacus spp. Look at the operculum ("flap" that closes the opening of the shell)--if it is like a pointed cone, then it is undoubtedly one of these predatory snails.

Skippy you were right it is a sundial snail, i took it out and will throw it out, thanks for the info guys, sorry about the picture, it was hard to get a good one of it.
